Product result: Commercialized a system for anonymous tag-based social distancing measurement and tracking with one year of battery life.

Real-time muck tracking for mines

Collaboration partners: Kirkland Lake Gold & Peytec Inc.
Product result: Commercialized a system demonstrating that tags could be detected beneath a 20-ton muck pile.

Robotic car-colour tracking system

Collaboration partners: Toyota & Peytec Inc.
Project result: Automated the colour-matching process by deploying a collaborative robot, sensors, AI, and IoT.

Proactive asset and inventory management

Project result: Built an automated system that obtained 20-centimetre positioning accuracy.

2014-2017

RFID real-time inventory localization

Collaboration partners: Ryerson University & Peytec Inc.
Project result: Designed and developed an RSSI-based localization algorithm and improved localization accuracy to three metres.

2015-2016

IoT and AI remote soil monitoring

Collaboration partners: Peytec & Vineland Research Centre
Project result: Remotely monitored and controlled XBee wireless sensor modules, stored the data in the cloud, and displayed it in a custom web application.

RFID tire tracking and sensor fusion

Collaboration partners: Peytec & Dec Express
Project result: Combined scan rates with RFID reader position to obtain 90% scan accuracy.

2014

Cloud NFC people tracking system

Collaboration partners: Peytec & JDC West
Project result: Built a real-time cloud NFC reader capable of handling 600 scans per minute and sorting scan data across database fields.

2013

RSSI-based cognitive location tracking

Collaboration partners: Peytec & Johnson Controls
Project result: Reduced transmission requirements by introducing a TDMA-based broadcasting algorithm, improving system performance fivefold.

2013

Circuit for a real-time 3D heart model

Supervisor: Dr. Umapathy, fourth-year capstone project
Project result: Reduced the circuit to 14 integrated circuits driving 244 LEDs at an update rate of 20 frames per second.

2012

Hardware layout for a Kodak CCD chip

Supervisor: Dr. Douplik, Physics Department
Project result: Identified a cost-effective CCD chip and designed the supporting schematics.

2011

Medical software processing optimization

Supervisor: Dr. Kyan, Electrical Engineering Department
Project result: Improved processing efficiency 500 times, reducing the same computation from 45 minutes to five seconds.
